• 305.3 billion riyals are the value of the assets of specialized government lending institutions, which is the highest in 21 years

    The investment of government specialized lending institutions in Saudi Arabia by the end of last year 2018 reached its highest level since 2011, with a value of about 38.3 billion riyals, which is a growth of 33.4 percent compared to 28.7 billion riyals by the end of 2017.

    According to the analysis of the report unit in the newspaper "Aleqtisadaih" that was based on data from the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency, the increase in the value of domestic investment of government specialized lending institutions in 2018 is due to the government bonds and instruments put forward by the Ministry of Finance last year.

    This item accounted for about 12.5 per cent of total assets of lending institutions by the end of 2018, up for the third consecutive year.

     

    Domestic investment is one of the five components of the assets of the government's specialized lending institutions, which by the end of 2018 amounted to about 305.26 billion riyals.

    These assets rose by 3.5 percent to SR 10.38 billion during the year due to higher domestic investments.

    The value of assets at the end of 2018 was the highest ever, specifically in 21 years (from 1998 until the end of 2018) after registering for the third consecutive year.

    The five most important assets of the government's specialized lending institutions are "outstanding loans", which account for about 75.6 per cent of the value of assets of government specialized lending institutions that amounted to about 230.74 billion riyals by the end of 2018 compared to 236.92 billion riyals by the end of 2017, followed by "domestic investment."

    Thirdly, "the cash assets" component accounted for about 10.2 per cent of the total value of assets of government specialized lending institutions by the end of 2018 with a peak of 31.14 billion riyals compared to 21.13 billion riyals by the end of 2017.

    Fourthly, "other Assets" came to SR 4.39 billion by the end of 2018, compared to SAR7.45 billion at the end of 2017, which is accounting for 1.4 percent of total assets by the end of 2018.

     

    The last of these items is "fixed assets", which accounted for about 0.2 percent of the total value of assets of government specialized lending institutions by the end of 2018, which amounted to about 696.5 million riyals compared to 683 million riyals by the end of 2017.
